» Pensacola Crawfish Festival – Friday 5/1 – Sunday 5/3
The 2015 festival will gather an array of artists representing New Orleans instrumental jazz, R&B, rock and traditional Cajun music. Headliners include Wayne Toups, Lost Bayou Ramblers, and Voodoo Gumbo. Wayne Toups, a Grammy-winning artist, integrates rock, Cajun, R&B and zydeco music to create a genre that he has dubbed “Zydecajun.” Toups began playing the accordion at age 13 and currently tours all over the country.
Brothers Louis and Andre Michot formed the Cajun band The Lost Bayou Ramblers a decade and a half ago. The Grammy-nominated group plays a revved-up version of Cajun music, with a punch of punk energy and psychedelic fuzz. Voodoo Gumbo, a party cover band from South Louisiana, brings the crowd to its feet with an eclectic mix of dance, rock and country music. Also included in this year’s lineup are the Cha Wa Mardi Gras Indians. Known for their elaborate Mardi Gras Indian costumes, drums and chanting Cha Wa will get the party started on Sunday morning with a second line throughout the festival grounds to “Little Liza Jane.” Bring your appetite for soul-stirring music, because this year’s Pensacola Crawfish Festival is bringing The Big Easy to downtown Pensacola!
