Blake’s Duet With Shakira Arrives

Curiosity has caught many when it comes to Blake Shelton and his foray into the music of Shakira. The two are co-judges on The Voice, and now they are duet partners on a new song called “Medicine.”

She has called it a country song from the first words that the two were going to record together, but besides some of the subject matter in the song, it seems to be very pop.

It starts with pedal steel, electric guitar and piano and the two trading lyrics, and it really does sound like a country-pop song, then the chorus hits and it’s more of the sound Shakira. Still, Blake is impressed with it.

“I think she did a hell of a job. One thing is for someone like her to say she’s going to do something and another is to do it. And I’ll be damned, a month and a half ago she wrote me and said, ‘I wrote the song, and I want you to tell me what you think.’ And I said, ‘Gosh dang, you did exactly what you said you’d do. It sounds like a hit song.

While probably not a song you’ll hear on The Cat, it may be Blake’s break into pop music and expanding his ever-growing fanbase.
