» And The Epicenter Of Country Is…
Taste Of Country has broken down today’s country music and has found that it’s epicenter isn’t Nashville, but Georgia. South Georgia to be exact. They put a pin on a map for the city of origin of every artist with a song on this week’s Top 50 chart and Georgia is country’s hot spot.
Six artists grew up between Macon and the Florida border, including Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Kip Moore and Thomas Rhett. On the north end of the state you find the hometowns of two-thirds of Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown, Tyler Hubbard from Florida Georgia Line and Brantley Gilbert.
TOC ran the numbers and says Georgia country stars have sold over five million albums in 2013, which is about 27% of total sales for country’s Top 100 albums of the year.
