A Tom Petty Song Inspired “When She Says Baby”

Last night was one of celebration for Jason Aldean as he got together with Rhett Akins and Ben Hayslip to celebrate his most recent number one song, “When She Says Baby” in Nashville. While talking about how the song came to be, writers Rhett and Ben, said they were inspired by a famous rock song.

The pair say Tom Petty’s “Here Comes My Girl” was the driving force that had them putting pen to paper.

Rhett told WNCT, that he told Ben “Man we need to write a country version of a guy who’s had a bad day at work or whatever and he comes home and his girl, all she has to do is say baby and all the bad things go away.”

Jason heads out on tour next month and is working on new music he hopes to have out in the fall.
